Just as we were making our way to the swimming pool ladder to get out of the swimming pool a beautiful butterfly came sitting on the top step on the ladder. It looked like it was drinking water (don't know if that is possible) on the step. We were completely mesmerized watching it stretching out this long thin "tongue" and then rolling it up, repeating the process again and again. I have never seen a butterfly's tongue in action (to be honest I never knew they had one, didn't know how the the heck they got the nectar.
Eventually it flew off but continued to stay close to us for the longest time. G was in my arms, we were so quiet, now and again whispering, just thoroughly enjoying the visit from the butterfly. I'm grateful for such simple but so incredibly special moments.
